Sentinel of Steel
Cardboard, Spray-paint, Gouache, Hot Glue
2 x 11 x 11 ft

Process
This was an ambitious project as the project limitations were to make it 5 times as large as the original object I believe. I wanted to make him huge, larger than life. Crafting things with cardboard is something I had limited experience with at this point. It helped to have a blueprint to work off of. While he didn't come out perfectly he certainly is an imposing statue. I really love how it came out, He can't stand that well but can prop himself up using his wings. I didn't finish coloring the helmet with the blue accents but it looks okay. The chest was a big obstacle with how to get it to work as the legs had an internal structure but I didn't have time to build him an internal chest. I balanced the best on his stomach that rests on the legs. Then the head rests on top of that. The arms were much easier to attach to the chest. So much fun and so satisfying to complete. He turned out larger than I thought he would and I love it. A nightmare to bring home and store but overall so much fun. My professor for Senior Studio said to include him for portfolio day and many people loved to see him even with his missing arm.

They didn't let me post the videos I took above so I put it down here for posterity, Enjoy!
