Life Be Still
Oil Paint
16 x 20 inches

Process
This was the first major piece we did for Beginning Painting. We had one before with tin foil but my canvas got warped from water damage and I don't have any photos from before. This was a still life painting where we picked a spot in a large still life and focused on it. We did an initial drawing with markers. The professor stressed blending colors with the markers to mimic the paint. The drawing got a bit muddy but the painting looks okay to me. I was able to blend shadows in where I wanted to for the most part. The blue vase was my favorite component and what I spent the most amount of time painting.
